An 11-day schedule for a walking safari in Ngorongoro Crater and hiking in Oldoinyo Lengai could look like this:

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transport to your Arusha accommodation. Depending on your arrival time, you can either tour the town and its markets or relax and prepare for your adventure.

Day 2: Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area and commence your walking safari in the crater. This is a fantastic chance to see wildlife up close and learn about the crater’s unique ecosystem. Spend the night camping in the caldera.

Day 3: Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Continue your walking safari in the crater, exploring various areas and watching wildlife. Spend another night picnicking in the crater.

Day 4: Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Today you will hike to the crater rim and experience panoramic views of the surrounding scenery. You will then travel to your next campsite in the conservation area.

Day 5: Olmoti Crater
Hike to Olmoti Crater, a stunning caldera encircled by lush forests and waterfalls. Along the journey, you will be able to see Maasai communities and learn about their culture. Spend the night camping close the crater.

Day 6: Empakaai Crater
Hike to Empakaai Crater, another stunning caldera with a lake at its heart. This is an excellent location for bird viewing and taking in the scenery. Spend the night camping close the crater.

Day 7: Lake Natron Drive to Lake Natron, a soda lake at the foot of Oldoinyo Lengai. Spend the afternoon relaxing and exploring the neighborhood around the lake.

Day 8: Oldoinyo Lengai
Begin your climb of Oldoinyo Lengai, an active volcano and one of the most difficult hikes in East Africa. You will begin the hike at night to escape the heat and arrive at the summit in time for sunrise. After taking in the scenery, you will descent and spend the night at your campsite.

Day 9: Lake Natron
Relax and recoup from your hike by swimming in Lake Natron’s cool waters. You can also go bird watching or explore nearby waterfalls.

10th day: Arusha
Return to Arusha by car and spend the day strolling through the marketplaces. Additionally, you can learn about Tanzania’s past and customs by visiting cultural museums. In Arusha, stay the night.

11th day: Departure
For your journey out, transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport.
