OVERVIEW
A 5-day safari in Mikumi and Udzungwa National Parks is a wonderful opportunity to experience the beauty and diversity of Tanzania’s wildlife and landscapes. Here’s a sample itinerary for your reference:
Day 1: Arrival in Dar es Salaam – Mikumi National Park
Upon your arrival at Dar es Salaam International Airport, you will be met by our representative who will transfer you to Mikumi National Park. The park is located approximately 283km west of Dar es Salaam, and the drive takes around 4-5 hours. After arrival, you will have lunch at the lodge and enjoy an afternoon game drive in the park. You will stay overnight at the lodge inside the park.
Day 2: Mikumi National Park
After breakfast, you will enjoy a full day game drive in the park. Mikumi National Park is home to a variety of wildlife, including elephants, lions, buffalos, giraffes, zebras, impalas, and many others. You will also have a chance to see a variety of bird species. You will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Mikumi National Park – Udzungwa Mountains National Park
After breakfast, you will depart from Mikumi National Park and head to Udzungwa Mountains National Park. The drive takes approximately 2 hours. After arrival, you will have lunch at the lodge and enjoy an afternoon hike in the park to Sanje Waterfalls. You will also have a chance to see the endemic Sanje crested mangabey monkey. You will stay overnight at the lodge inside the park.
Day 4: Udzungwa Mountains National Park
After breakfast, you will enjoy a full day hike in the park. Udzungwa Mountains National Park is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna, including different species of primates, birds, and butterflies. You will also have a chance to see beautiful views of the park from the top of the mountains. You will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Udzungwa Mountains National Park – Dar es Salaam
After breakfast, you will depart from Udzungwa Mountains National Park and head back to Dar es Salaam. The drive takes approximately 6 hours, and you will have lunch en-route. You will arrive in Dar es Salaam in the late afternoon, and you will be transferred to the airport for your onward flight.
