KITAVI MAHALE AND GOMBE TANZANIA SAFARI FOR 9 DAYS AND 8 NIGHTS
Overview
OVERVIEW
Tours to Katavi National Park, Gombe Stream National Park, and Mahale Mountains National Park are all beautiful and distinctive. There are parks without roads where you can walk and enjoy nature with all of your senses. All game viewing in the parks is done on foot. The highly habituated chimps are the main draw of these parks, but there are also many Olive Baboons and various monkey types such as Red Colobus and Blue Monkeys.
Day1:Flying to Katavi National Park from Arusha
Pickup from your Arusha hotel and transfer to the airport in time for a Monday and Thursday only shared charter aircraft to Katavi National Park. When you reach in Katavi, our driver-guide will meet you and take you to your lodge where you can check in and have lunch.
Arrive back at the lodge for supper and the night after leaving for a game drive in the afternoon.
Day 2:A Full Day of Walking Safaris and Game Drives in Katavi
Enjoy a full day of wildlife viewing after breakfast while exploring this remote western wilderness with a packed lunch. Despite being the third-largest park in Tanzania, Katavi is one of the least frequented; during your journey, it’s likely that you won’t see any other vehicles. The park is home to large herds of herbivores, pods of hippos, and a variety of birds. The dry season, when the plains are overrun with tens of thousands of zebra, topi, and impala, is when Katavi National Park is at its finest. There are also numerous resident elephants, numerous hartebeest, giraffe, and Defassa waterbuck, as well as some notable buffalo herds.
Day 3:Travel to the Mahale Mountains:
After breakfast, board a one-hour chartered flight to the Mahale Mountains. Transfer by canoe along Lake Tanganyika. Afternoon foot excursion in the Mahale Mountains.
Day 4: Tracking chimpanzees in the Mahale Mountains
The main attraction at Mahale is chimpanzee tracking, which is always given top precedence in the morning after breakfast. Early in the morning is when tracking typically starts, with the guides generally beginning where the chimpanzees nested the night before and moving onward.
Day 5:Depart Kigoma Town for the Gombe:
Transfer to the lakeside after breakfast in order to join the boat that will take you to Gombe Stream National Park. The smallest park in Tanzania, measuring only 53 square kilometers, is situated about 20 kilometers north of Kigoma and can only be accessed by boat. The chimpanzee families that reside in safety within the park’s boundaries are its primary draw. Visitors take walks deep into the forest to watch and spend the entire morning with the extraordinary primates. The conservation initiative begun by Jane Goodall, who first arrived in Gombe in 1960, made Gombe famous. The tropical woodlands of Gombe Stream are home to numerous primates, including baboons, velvet and colobus monkeys, in addition to chimpanzees. You will be met upon arrival and taken to your cabin for lunch. After that, continue on to the jungle to search for chimpanzees.
Day 6&7: Chimpanzee tracking and game viewing
Full day hiking for Chimpanzees in Gombe. A trip to the woodland and then to the feeding station. Proceed to the water cascades and Lake.
Day 8: Gombe to Arusha
After breakfast, take a leisurely stroll along the shoreline with your picnic lunch boxes as you wait for a transfer boat to pick you up at noon so you can make your 5:30pm charter flight back to Dar es Salaam or Arusha city.
