8 Days of Serengeti, Ngorongoro, and Lake Manyara Migration Safaris

OVERVIEW

An 8-day safari in Serengeti, Ngorongoro, and Lake Manyara National Parks is an excellent opportunity to experience the great wildebeest migration and see the diverse wildlife in Tanzania’s most iconic national parks. Here’s a suggested itinerary for your 8-day safari:

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met by your guide who will take you to your hotel in Arusha, where you will spend the night.

Day 2: Arusha – Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, drive to Tarangire National Park, famous for its large herds of elephants and ancient baobab trees. You’ll have a full day game drive in the park, then drive to your overnight accommodation.

Day 3: Tarangire – Lake Manyara National Park

In the morning, drive to Lake Manyara National Park, famous for its tree-climbing lions and flamingos. You’ll have a game drive in the park and then head to your overnight accommodation.

Day 4: Lake Manyara – Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, drive to Serengeti National Park, where you’ll spend the next three nights. The Serengeti is famous for the great wildebeest migration, but it’s also home to other iconic wildlife, including lions, leopards, cheetahs, and hyenas. You’ll have an afternoon game drive in the park.

Day 5-6: Serengeti National Park

Spend two full days exploring the Serengeti National Park. Your experienced guide will take you to the best spots to see wildlife and the migration, and you’ll have plenty of opportunities to take photos and learn about the animals and their behaviors.

Day 7: Serengeti – Ngorongoro Crater

In the morning, drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where you’ll spend the night on the crater rim. The Ngorongoro Crater is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the best places to see the Big Five (lions, elephants, leopards, buffalos, and rhinos) in Tanzania.

Day 8: Ngorongoro – Arusha

After breakfast, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive. You’ll have the chance to see an incredible variety of wildlife, including large herds of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles. After your game drive, drive back to Arusha, where you’ll stay overnight before your departure.
