8 Days Land Mark Gorilla Tour, Queen Elizabeth Park, and Chimpanzee Trekking
Overview
Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali, Rwanda
Upon your arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be met by a tour representative and transferred to your hotel in Kigali. Depending on your arrival time, you can explore the city or relax at your hotel.
Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, you will drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda. This drive will take you through the beautiful landscapes of Rwanda and Uganda. Upon arrival at the park, you will check in at your lodge and spend the rest of the day relaxing and preparing for the gorilla trekking the following day.
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking
Early morning, you will head to the park headquarters for briefing and allocation of gorilla families. You will then proceed on a gorilla trekking adventure through the lush forest to see the endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. After the trek, you will return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation.
Day 4: Second Gorilla Trekking or Community Walk
Depending on your interests, you can either go for a second gorilla trekking or take a community walk to experience the local culture of the Batwa people who are the indigenous people of the forest.
Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, you will drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, a journey that will take you through scenic views of the Kigezi highlands and the Ishasha sector, known for its tree-climbing lions. Upon arrival, you will check in at your lodge and spend the rest of the day relaxing.
Day 6: Game Drive and Boat Cruise
In the morning, you will go on a game drive to spot wildlife such as elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, and lions. In the afternoon, you will take a boat cruise on the Kazinga channel, which is a great opportunity to spot hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species.
Day 7: Chimpanzee Trekking
Early morning, you will go for a chimpanzee trekking adventure in the Kyambura Gorge. This gorge is home to habituated chimpanzees, as well as other primates such as colobus monkeys and baboons. After the trek, you will return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation.
Day 8: Departure
After breakfast, you will drive back to Kigali and either be dropped off at the airport for your departure flight or spend an extra night in Kigali before your departure the following day.
